The Colliers travelled to North Glasgow College to face a very competitive Glasgow Storm squad who also all compete in the National League.
From the jump ball the game was very intense going basket for basket until the Colliers went on a run sparked off by tremendous 3 point shooting from Ross Rankin.
However Storm stepped it back up again closing the gap and took the lead at the end of the first quarter 22-20.
In second quarter both teams refused to yield fighting for every ball and shot, however with great team defence and team offence the Colliers went on a big run and took the lead at the end of the half 44-23.
Storm came out hungry to close the gap in the third and went on a quick run however fantastic shooting from Ross Rankin and dominant play from Mike Lynn kept the Colliers in the lead at the end of the third 23-19.
In the fourth the Colliers again stepped up on defence and executed effectively on offence with Scott Russell getting to the basket and again Mike Lynn dominating under the basket. Storm went on a late run and began to close the gap, however with a three pointer from Graham Hunter and then two in a row from Ross Rankin the game was over.
Collier scorers were:
Mike Lynn 24
Ross Rankin 24
Scott Russell 23
Graham Hunter 12
Jay Runga 6
Stephen Hamilton 2
Player/Head Coach Graham Hunter commented:
“This was a huge win for us, Storm are a good div 1 team and gave us a lot of problems in the first game we lost to them.
“We’ve come a long way in terms of development as a team and I think that showed in the game, when we play as a team we get the job done.”
