Another close game for the Senior Women

January 23rd, 2016 - the Colliers had to face the second strongest team of the league on Saturday the Edinburgh Kool Kats. Coming from a 26-point loss from them at the beginning of the season, the game started with the Colliers having a strong start and Rosie Barr dominating on rebounds. The Colliers finished the first quarter up 14-10.
In the second quarter with 10 points in a raw from Joyce Carey, Colliers kept their close lead in the game, however defensively were some poor choices that did not give them a chance to widen the margin between the two teams.
Half time score 34 – 32.
In the third quarter the Colliers were struggling to find an offensive solution and were lacking focus, but after that they managed to keep their heads up and improve their offensive decision making they closed out the quarter Colliers 43 Kats 45.
Tiredness and lack of fitness allowed the Kats to score 18 points in the last quarter and finally take the win by 6 points.
FINAL SCORE: SL Colliers 57 Kats 63
Coach Maria Vasilaki commented: “I’m quite satisfied with the performance of the team.”
“Making mature choices both on offence and on defence, it a huge improvement compared to the first game and we lost that by 26 points.
“All of our players gave 100%.”
