Colliers performance takes them to cup semi finals

SLBA Cup game

November 9th, 2015 - The Colliers senior started really strong defensively in the game, creating frustration for the Glasgow University team and used all that energy to convert to points. Rhona Mitchell was leading the score in the first quarter with 10 points, finishing the quarter 22-7.

In the second quarter Glasgow University reacted more positive to the Colliers pressure and improved both in offence and defence.

The Colliers kept working hard and the juniors of the team had the opportunity to go on court and get some experience in a senior game against a good team finishing the half 38-22 to the Colliers.

In the third quarter again proved a problematic for the Colliers as they became complacent after building such a lead as they considered the game done, but Glasgow University was not ready to quit. They fought hard and got back into the game finishing the third 51-45 to the Colliers.

The Colliers entered the 4th quarter determined to fight for the game, they got rebounds and with good decision making in the last minutes they won the game.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 68  Glasgow University 63

Ali McCusker commented: “It was a tough game but our composure and discipline demonstrated why we deserve to be in the semi final.”
