Defence first for the young Colliers

SL Colliers vs Clyde Cavaliers

SLBA Under 14 Boy’s

February 20th, 2016 - the Colliers under 14 boys welcomed the Clyde Cavaliers for their final home game of the group with the aim to be focus on having fun whilst on the court.

The Colliers started well applying pressure defence that has worked for them in the last 3 games running, sadly the Colliers couldn’t capitalise on the turn overs and only led 8-3 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the u14s kept the pressure on and soon started scoring, with the whole team doing a great job on defence the Colliers won the second quarter 21-0 to lead 29-3 at the half.

To start the second Coach Ritchie opted for a line up of players that would be returning next year to give them time on court together, they increased the lead by 8 points however the Cavs started to improve their passing to have their best quarter of the game with the Colliers winning the quarter 16-8.

The fourth was a chance for the Colliers to change their line ups repeatedly giving everyone on the squad a chance to contribute to the game.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 57 Clyde Cavaliers 15

Coach Ritchie commented: “I was pleased with the boys today, we really showed how much we have grown as a team and as individuals this season.”

“Our defence was immense today and all feedback has been positive from all the parents.”

The u14s now await the final standings in the other group to see who they will face next.
