Div 3 Men get their first Win of the Season
November 8th, 2015 – the Colliers Division 3 team had been making good progress in games and in training but hadn’t been able to win a game until this Sunday at the Ian Nicolson Centre in Chryston.
Playing the kind of intense defence, they’re capable of, Colliers were able to disrupt Cougars play and capitalise on their good defence and convert scoring opportunities.
A high tempo start meant that Colliers finished the first quarter ahead 22-6. This gave the team a comfortable lead they held throughout the rest of the game, coping well with Cougars attempts to regain momentum.
All 12 of the players on the Colliers squad made positive contributions throughout and those players made the most of the opportunities they were given, for the minutes they were on the court.
The team maintained their style of play and kept their focus to ensure a comfortable and welcome victory, the first this season, especially after two close losses in their previous games.
Final score: Colliers 84 - Dodgers 65
Head Coach Derek Milligan commented: “This was a good quality, and well deserved, win for the team.”
“It was really enjoyable to watch the guys execute the kinds of things we’ve been working on offensively and defensively; they’ve been pushing themselves in training and I was happy for them that they got the result they deserved.
“It’s straight back to training next week to prepare for another game the team will be desperate to win.”
