Junior women have a strong second half to beat Fever

November 20th, 2015 - the under 18 girls continued their strong performance in the Strathclyde League in their second game, despite initially struggling with Fever’s pace and ending the first quarter down 13-11.

However, they soon settled into the game and the second quarter saw Niamh Shannon continue to attack the basket and Abigail Paterson get a block and two rebounds to go with her 4 points that quarter.  Colliers ended the first half up 29-27.

In the second half the Colliers performance was much improved on both offense and defence with the team limiting their turnovers and playing good help defence.  Sophie Neilson shot well while Tina Palli and Carla Crowther continued to run the floor and find ways for themselves or their teammates to get to the basket.  The team’s unselfishness showed with at least 5 of the 6 players scoring in every quarter.

Top scorers were Niamh Shannon with 19 points and Amy Poulton with 13 points.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 66 – Fever 49
