SL Colliers vs Ayr Storm

SLBA Under 14 Boy’s

February 6th, 2016 - the Colliers under 14 boys hosted a tough Ayr Storm team in their second home game of the season. Buoyant after their last two games the Colliers started full of confidence passing the ball and making good movement off the ball creating good scoring opportunities, finishing the first quarter 14-10.

Going into the second quarter the rule was don’t rush the shot, pass the ball and wait for the easy shot to come. This rule served the boys well with the Colliers opening the gap to 10 points by half time, finishing Colliers 33 Ayr 23.

The third quarter was time for the younger members of the squad to get a good chunk of time on court and they didn’t disappoint working hard to score on the break.

In the fourth Coach Ritchie kept giving the younger Colliers more game time but Ayr rallied and started to close the gap. With the game down to a 5 point lead the Colliers gave the younger players a well deserved rest and the starting 5 closed the game out.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 47 Ayr Storm 42

Coach Ritchie added: “this was another evenly matched game against Ayr, they have good height in their squad and always give us a run for our money.”

“My aim for this game was to use lineups made up of younger players to give them the development time they need on court.”

Having secured second spot in their group the Colliers will close their group with a home game against Clyde Cavalier’s on the 20th of February.
