7 South Lanarkshire Collier’s players travelled to Scotstoun Leisure Centre for the season opener to face Glasgow University basketball club. Right from the jump ball the Collier men controlled the tempo of the game with tough defence and patient offence.

 

Team Captain Scott Russell kicked off the scoring and dominated the first quarter getting to the basket at will. Fraser Hill impressed early posting up and crashing the boards.

 

The Colliers worked as a unit moving the ball well to find the open man which led to outside shooting success from Graham Hunter and Ross Rankin.

 

Scott Russell top scored with 18 points followed by 16 points each from Graham Hunter and Fraser Hill.

 

Player/Head Coach Graham Hunter commented, “Was a great win for us especially missing Mike Lynn and Jay Runga who were both off on holiday.”

 

I was extremely happy with the game as it was a team win, we all contributed and I can see us building on this win and moving from strength to strength.”
