Solid win for the Div 1 Men in Renfrew

 

March 2nd, 2016 - The Colliers started off taking the momentum of the game from the start with Alex Dobbie opening the scoring with an aggressive layup. The Colliers starters didn’t take their foot off the accelerator with Chris Davidson playing fantastic defence and Dobbie, Michael Lynn, Ross Rankin and Graham Hunter all scoring multiple times winning the first quarter 20-13.

 

The Colliers showed signs of complacency in the second despite a hot streak of shooting from Ross Rankin losing the second quarter 18-28 to the Buddies finishing the half down 41-38.

 

The Colliers came out in the second half focused as they took clear control of the game. The Colliers stepped up another gear in the fourth quarter leaving the Buddies behind to win their 9th game of the year.

 

Graham Hunter top scored for the Colliers with 27 points followed by with Ross Rankin with 22 points, Michael Lynn scored 18 and Alex Dobbie added 12 points.

 

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 83 – 71 WCS Buddies

 

Head Coach Graham Hunter commented: “This was a great team win with 4 guys in double figures, Buddies played hard and didn’t give up.”

 

“We now have 9 wins and 1 loss and are starting to really gel and focus as a team and I still feel we still haven’t saw our full potential yet with the league and cup up for grabs.

 

“We now have two more weeks to again improve and get ready for our next match, one game at a time and all to play for.”

 

The Colliers now sit joint top with Glasgow Storm in the league table. The Div 1 Men’s next game is on Wednesday on the 16th of March against Oatlands at the Alistair McCoist Complex in East Kilbride, 8:15pm tip off.
