Another Convincing Win for the U14 Boy's

January 24th, 2016 - the Colliers under 14 boys made their second 40 mile trip of the season to face the Clyde Cavaliers in Gourock. Coach Ritchie experimented with line ups from the get go and all the boys wanted to keep the confidence rolling from the last game starting on the front foot using their full court press to open up a quick 10-0 lead.

The boys showed great sportsmanship by backing off to a half court defence. With squad rotation and teamwork being the main aim of this game the line ups were regularly changed and at half time the Colliers led 34 – 8.

In the third quarter the Colliers continued to rotate the squad, they passed the ball well on the offence creating good chances but the Cavaliers played some good basketball of there own with Colliers only extending their lead by 3 points.

Going into the fourth quarter the boys settled back into their defence limiting the Cavaliers to only 2 points in the quarter and made good interception’s to create several fast breaks which led to easy baskets.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 57 Clyde Cavaliers 18

Coach James Ritchie commented: “echoing the comments from the parents the boys are playing well as a team and showed some real unselfish basketball working hard for each other on defence and passing the ball well on offence.”

“The parents also created a great atmosphere cheering on and encouraging both teams which the whole squad really appreciate.”

The Colliers will now see out the remainder of the season with 2 home games in February against Ayr Storm and Clyde Cavaliers during which they hope to solidify second spot in the group.
