U16 Cadets vs Glasgow Storm - SLBA

December 14th, 2015 - After recent poor starts to matches the Colliers came out right from the start fired up for the match and were determined in gaining another win.

The Colliers were focused on trying to maintain a high standard throughout. This was the first game of the season whereby the team attempted to apply full court pressure and they were rewarded with a commanding 31-3 lead after the 1st quarter.

Some strong shooting from Alexander Blair and exceptional defensive work from Louis Lennox-Devion helped the Colliers stretch out their lead to 53-9 by halftime.

The second half was used to try out new tactics and ways of playing as a team. The more experienced players such as Christopher Duncan and Alfie Memmott took some well deserved rest however this didn't stop the Colliers scoring ability.

The rest of the game provided an opportunity to get players into the game who haven’t had as much court time in which they took full advantage of.

FINAL SCORE:   SL Colliers 90 Glasgow Storm 39

Coach Ian Rae commented: “I was thrilled to see the team finish 2015 so strongly, I am so pleased for all of the boys and happy they could finish the year the way they deserved.”

“They have been working so hard in training and pushing one another to improve and today was testimony to that.

“I was particularly pleased to see us start the way we did however we all know we must continue to work in order to try and maintain that intensity throughout a match and not let our performance slip.

“Their is a real buzz surrounding this team right now and a tonne of potential with regards to how good the boys can become.

“It is my job to help them reach their potential but also ensure that they are having fun and enjoy playing the game of basketball.

“2016 holds a lot of promise for this team and we all cannot wait to get started once more.”

The U16 boys next game will take place at at John Ogilvie high school in Hamilton when they will play Ayr Storm on the 28th of January 7:15pm.
