Under 14 Girls continue great form

U14 Regional Development League

November 2nd, 2015 - The Colliers got off to their usual blistering start as Paterson and Palli connected to take a quick 6-0 lead and immediately coach Hutton asked his players to fall back from their usual full court pressure.

City looked impressive with some talented players who could shoot the ball and made it tough for the Colliers as they attacked the hoop relentlessly. With coach Hutton running the bench nearly all the Colliers players saw the floor in the first 8 minutes of the game.

Colliers continued to dominate the game in the second quarter through Gupwell, Burn, and some nice long range shooting from Clark to take the half time score to 31-18.

The second half saw Colliers extend their lead more through some great defence from Thomson and Paterson to set up Crowther who scored 6 points in a row on the fast break.

Some great shooting from city’s Gormley kept them going in the third and Abbey Taylor put on a clinic with her dribbling moves which kept the Colliers girls on their toes.

In the end the Colliers secured the win with a 21-point win and took their U14 record to 16-0 so far this season.

Carla Crowther top scored with 16 points followed by Natalie Clark with 11 and Abigail Paterson added 8 points.

FINAL SCORE:   Colliers 59 Glasgow City 38

Head Coach Ross Hutton commented: “I enjoyed seeing our U13 players do really well tonight.”

“Jorja Boyd is fearless despite being smaller than most players and did a great job.

“Both Allison and Millie fit well in our system and Georgie Gupwell is making the transition from playing recreationally to playing competitively very well.

“It was also great to see Charlotte King in action who came to us from the Reach for the Sky school of basketball at Calderglen High.”
