Under 16 Men get the Win against the Rocks

The Colliers u16 men got their second win in the Strathclyde league to remain undefeated. With a poor first quarter the Colliers saw themselves trailing Renfrew 15–10 due to poor defence and early foul trouble which saw starting centre Stuart Barton sit on the bench for the remainder of the half.
Coalfield Regeneration Trust Blantyre School's Tournament

In December 2015 the South Lanarkshire Colliers Basketball Club were awarded £1,858 by the Coalfield Regeneration Trust after a successful pitch at Coalfields Community Challenge Dragons Den event by club Chairman Graham Hunter.
Men's Division 3 Team In End of Season Push

With six games in four weeks over February and March to close out the season, and with only 8 players from the original squad of fifteen now available, it was always going to be a tricky run in for the Colliers Division 3 team to close out the season.
Colliers senior women head to Cup Semi Final

November 9th, 2015 - The Colliers senior started really strong defensively in the game, creating frustration for the Glasgow University team and used all that energy to convert to points. Rhona Mitchell was leading the score in the first quarter with 10 points, finishing the quarter 22-7.
Junior women win their first game in the Strathclyde League!

The under 18 girls travelled to Renfrew on Friday night for their first game in the Strathclyde League. The girls were in control of the game from the tip off showing that their hard work from the last season is paying off.
Division 1 Men find their rhythm against Oatlands

The game started off with aggressive play by both teams trying to get the edge, however the Colliers struggled offensively to get going with only Graham Hunter scoring two 3 pointers followed by an and 1 by Jay Runga; the Colliers trailed the first quarter 16-9.
U14 Girls get off to Winning Start

The Colliers U14 girls started their campaign with an impressive undefeated pre-season record of 14-0 and had made good progress with their national league outings. The visiting team from Cumbernauld (Gladiator Rocks) started out the stronger of the two teams with their aggressive defence and up tempo offence.

The Colliers girls had their first home game of the regular season as they took on St Mirren in the Strathclyde Cup. A tenacious start on defence and great execution on offence gave the Colliers the momentum and quickly built up a 10-0 lead.
U18 Girls Show Promise in Pre-season match up

The game started off well for the Colliers with a 3 pointer from Rachael Tonnar as well as some strong inside play from Rochelle Maclean. Valentina Palli was a spark to the team’s offense in the second quarter, scoring 9 points in that quarter alone.
Fearless Performance by under 18 Women

The girls travelled to Grangemouth to play the number 1 seed in the division 1 of the Scottish national league, Tayside Musketeers. The teams had met twice in the league previously and showed progression again in this game, despite being without Niamh Shannon, who last week dropped 20 points on the Edinburgh Kool Kats.
Colliers Senior Woman Secure the League title!

The Colliers senior woman had yet to play Glasgow Fever 1 this season and they looked to be the Colliers main contenders for the league title as they have been a force to be reckoned with over the past few season in the Strathclyde Basketball League as they had won the league and cup last season.
Senior Women remain Unbeaten!
On Sunday 7th of December the Colliers Women's team took on SPRA for their final game of 2014. They were looking to go into the Christmas break with an unbeaten record, however SPRA would prove to be a tough side to beat as they had only lost one game so far.

The Colliers cadette women got their local league season underway with a trip to play Ayr Storm. The two teams met 3 weeks ago in the National League with Storm coming out on top 50-24, so the Colliers girls were determined to improve on that score.
Colliers through to quarter finals of Anderson Cup

After a by in the first round of the Anderson Cup the Colliers faced another East Kilbride based team Calderglen Spartans in the second round.
The game was instantly controlled by the Colliers from the jump ball, seeing 5 out of the 6 Colliers make there way onto the score sheet in the first quarter.
Senior woman remain unbeaten!

The Colliers senior woman travelled to Trinity High School in Renfrewshire on Thursday 20th of November to play the Renfrew Rocks. It was the first away game of the season and due to other commitments the Colliers travelled with only 6 players. However the Colliers were focused looking to continue their unbeaten run
Div 1 men secure first win of the season!

After a slow start to the season for the Colliers they came out slow as expected with Glasgow City starting off hot from the three-point line. It wasn’t until the end of the quarter the Colliers started to show they were there to win trailing at the end of the first 29-17 to Glasgow.

Convincing win for senior woman

The Colliers Senior Women's team hosted the Glasgow Eagles for their season opener on Sunday. Putting their pre-season work into practice the women got off to a fast and aggressive start in the first quarter with good defensive pressure which lead to easy transition points and a comfortable 18-3 lead by the end of the quarter.

Ross Hutton has now been involved in the development of Scottish Basketball for 21 years from coaching primary school children to professional with Glasgow Rocks. We therefore are very fortunate at the Colliers to have such an experienced and driven Club Development Officer and Coach.

Sportsmatch School Project Success!

After successful sponsorship with Rising Wear clothing the Colliers were able to secure Sportsmatch funding from sportscotland to run a primary school basketball programme.
This involved 6 hours coaching for 5 schools, which covered all the basic fundamentals of the game and would culminate with a central venue tournament bringing all the schools together.

Excited.Hungry.Focused. It’s a fantastic oppurtuinty to come and play for the Colliers and I’m very grateful to Graham and the rest of the coaching staff for giving me the chance to prove myself which is exactly what I intend to do. I watched and played against these guys last season and I think they’ve got great potential and more importantly great chemistry.
18 young Colliers selected to represent Lanarkshire at 2014 National Challenge

Over 270 boys and girls from across Scotland competed in the under 12s National Basketball Challenge at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley on May 17th and 18th. The action packed weekend saw 16 boys teams from Tayside & Fife, Grampian, Highlands, West, East and Central competing for victory on Saturday and a further 11 girls teams took to the court for action on the Sunday.
Awards for All Scotland Funding

South Lanarkshire Colliers Basketball Club was recently awarded £9,194 from Awards for All Scotland to assist with the overall development of the club. The funding secured offers support for the clubs youth development to senior level contributing to the Awards for All outcome of ‘people and communities are healthier.’
Colliers make it to Anderson Cup final

The 27th of April saw the Colliers division 1 men and club as a whole reach their first Cup Final at Bellahouston sports centre, Glasgow against Glasgow Storm. The game was due to be a great clash with each team winning a game each against each other in the regular season.
Scotland Selection for Young Collier's

For any club, having players selected to represent their country is an outstanding achievement and one which they will remember their whole life. Five Colliers under 12 players (Katie Burn, Carla Crowther, Laura Thompson, Tom Milligan and Shaun Thomas) successfully booked their place in their respective national team development squad earlier this year.

The build up to the game became intense with the semi final bringing in the biggest crowd of the year so far. Colliers won the tip off and immediately went to work playing great team offence getting everyone involved leading to a winning first quarter 18-11.
